Everyday life

The child is always at the centre.

We want to build on children's joy and curiosity and give them special experiences during their childhood. We're spontaneous, flexible adults with room for reflection and different opinions.

How we see the child

  • The child's safe framework
  • The child first
  • The child's pace
  • The child's content
  • The child's participation
  • The child's mastery

Badger · 1–3 years

Grevlinghiet

The youngest – always a lap to sit on

On the ground floor of the main house, entrance from Professor Dahls gate. A big living room for blocks and train tracks, a playroom with a doll and kitchen corner, and a room for crafts, games and beads. Contact between child and adult is close: we comfort, set clear boundaries and let routines create security.

Beverhytta

Between the little ones and the big ones

Beverhytta has a house of its own but works closely with Revehiet on trips, projects and activities. Weekly trips into the forest and the neighbourhood – with seasons, ecology and culture as themes.

Fox · 3–6 years

Revehiet

The big ones – cabin trips, skiing and the Maxi group

The oldest cook hot meals with the adults, indoors and out, go skiing and stay overnight in cabins. The final year is about channelling the energy of being the biggest – shows, cabin trips and projects that bring joy, togetherness and lasting memories.

Bua

Ten children, two adults – and lots of trips.

Bua is a hiking group across the departments, with its own premises. Ten children and two adults take part week by week, with several trips a week – for even more variety, and to draw on what the staff are especially good at.

Safety and ownership of one's own body

We teach children about their bodies and that they can say “no” and “stop” where the line goes. We build self-esteem and social skills – and talk about how you can always tell an adult if something feels unsafe.
